Business Profile

About Us... Chads Theatre was founded just after the First World War as Cheadle Hulme Amateur Dramatic Society, performing in different venues in the Cheadle Hulme area. In October 1959 the members opened their own premises and have continued to develop the Theatre ever since, providing a first class venue for its members and patrons. In 1982 the name officially changed to Chads Theatre Company.

Through the efforts of the members, Chads is self sufficient with income coming from subscriptions, the staging of plays, costume hire, theatre hire, bar sales and fund-raising efforts. The company is run by an executive committee and supporting committees of members that cover all aspects of Chads productions and development.

More Information... Chads Theatre is a fantastic local asset. Standing at the top of Mellor Road, Cheadle Hulme, it has been at its present location since the mid fifties. It has an enviable reputation for putting on high quality plays and the Christmas show in 2015 will be its 400th production.

Our Centenary Project is about re-roofing and refurbishing our theatre. We need to raise almost £300,000 to complete the work. Of course we already have money saved from our income but we do need to raise funds. This season (2014/15) has been quite successful. We have raised:

£25,000 from a bid to the Garfield Weston Foundation

Over £10,000 from the Christmas Challenge, where Garfield Weston doubled donations made by supporters

And £1,350 from the Smartie Tube collection

All our social events (like the June Ball) will also add to the coffers.
